Clinical Experience of Theo-Esberiven^(¢ç) for the Patients with Acute Musculoskeletal Injuries and Postoperative Inflammation

Abstract
Inflammatory tissue reactions following trauma or surgery are physiological response of man. But the function of a injured extremity can be severely impaired if the tissue reactions are severe and prolonged.
Theo-Esberiven¢ç, composed of coumarin and rutin derivatives, is known to be effective for inflammatory tissue reaction following trauma and surgery.
This report present author¢¥s clinical experience of Theo-Esberiven¢ç for the treatment of post traumatic and postoperative inflammatory tissue reaction.
Thirty patients with acute musculoskeletal injury, cellulitis and postoperative inflammation not related to infection, were subjected to this study.
The results were as follows:
1. Relief¡¯s of pain, tenderness and sense of fullness began to be noted one day after the administration of Theo-Esberiven¢ç. At 7th day of administration, most of patients(27 out. of 30) experienced relief of symptoms. But a patient with open fracture of proximal: tibia with concomitant vascular injury, a patient with deep laceration of forearm with rupture of artery and a patient with severe cellulitis of leg experienced minimal relief¡¯s of symptoms.
2. Regression of edema was noticed at 3rd day of Theo-Esberiven¢ç administration.
3. No clinical and hematological abnormalities could be found during and after the administration of Theo-Esberiven¢ç.
Above results indicate that administration of Theo-Esberiven¢ç is beneficial for the control of post-traumatic and postoperative inflammatory tissue reactions.
